How I Discovered K-Beauty — And Why I Created Glasshour
Share
I never thought I’d end up building a beauty brand. Honestly, a year ago, I was just someone desperately searching for products that wouldn’t make my skin worse.
For years, I struggled with sensitive skin — redness, breakouts, that constant feeling that whatever I put on my face was either doing nothing or actively irritating it. I tried everything the European market had to offer: dermatologist recommendations, pharmacy brands, expensive serums that promised the world. Some helped a little. Most didn’t.
Then one day, while searching for something — anything — that could calm my skin down, I stumbled across Korean skincare. Not through a fancy magazine or a beauty guru. Just through hours of late-night research, reading reviews, watching videos, trying to understand why so many people were raving about these products from the other side of the world.
I was skeptical. Of course I was. But I was also desperate enough to try.
The first Korean product I used changed everything. Not overnight — K-Beauty doesn’t promise miracles, and that’s actually one of the things I love about it. It’s built on consistency, on gentle care, on ingredients that work with your skin instead of against it. Within a few weeks, my redness started to calm. My skin felt different — softer, less reactive, more balanced.
I was hooked.
Over the following months, I went deep into the world of K-Beauty. I learned about ingredients I’d never heard of — centella asiatica, snail mucin, galactomyces, propolis. I understood why Korean skincare focuses so much on hydration and barrier repair. I started to see results I genuinely hadn’t expected.
But there was one problem: getting these products in Europe wasn’t easy. Long shipping times, uncertain customs, products you couldn’t verify were authentic. It felt like a barrier between me and something that was genuinely working for me.
That’s when the idea for Glasshour was born.
I wanted to create a space where people in Europe — people like me, with sensitive skin and real concerns — could access authentic Korean skincare without the hassle. Products carefully selected, not just randomly thrown together. A brand built on honesty: yes, delivery takes a little longer because everything comes directly from Korea. But that’s exactly why the quality is real.
Glasshour is still new. We’re growing, learning, and building something we genuinely believe in. And every product we add to our collection goes through the same question: would I put this on my own skin?
If the answer is yes, it makes it to you.
Thank you for being here at the beginning. It means more than you know.
